KT “AICT Company” Vision Declared Global Cooperation Performance [MWC 24]
At MWC 2024, KT declared its vision to be reborn as an AICT Company that adds information technology (IT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to communication capabilities and announced the start of a full-fledged global leap forward. KT presented a different future life through next-generation network technology and AI innovation, technology under the theme of ‘ KT, the digital innovation partner that creates the future’ at the world’s largest mobile communication fair ‘MWC 2024’, which closed in Barcelona, Spain on the 29th of last month.
According to KT on the 3rd, during the event, major figures related to the mobile industry, including Secretary General of the Global Mobile Communications Association (GSMA) Mats Granrid, as well as executives from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Qualcomm, Ericsson, and Shinhan Financial Group, visited. In the ‘NEXT 5G’ zone, future network technologies such as aviation communication network construction technology, quantum cryptography, and power saving for UAM (Urban Air Transportation), a future means of transportation, were showcased, and in the ‘AI LIFE’ zone, a large language model (LLM) was applied.
Various cases where super-large AI has been applied, such as AI semiconductors and sovereign AI cases, were introduced. Global communication efforts also achieved results. CEO Kim Young-seop, the only GSMA board member in Korea, attended the ‘CEO Board Meeting’ as a representative of Korean telecommunication companies and discussed current information and communication technology (ICT) issues with heads of global telecommunication companies, and Oh Seung-pil, head of the Technology Innovation Division (CTO), gave the ‘CTO GTI Summit keynote. ‘ Participated as a speaker.

The discussions provided ample opportunities to explore diverse strategies for advancing the mobile industry.
Meanwhile, KT signed a contract with GSMA to host ‘Mobile 360 Asia Pacific (M360 APAC)’ in Seoul in October and plans to share innovation achievements as an AICT company. M360 is an event held annually by GSMA since 2013 and discusses the agenda of the ICT industry by selecting regional topics such as Europe, South America, Africa, and Asia regarding current mobile industry issues. In addition to the conference, small exhibitions by participating companies will be held, providing an opportunity to examine the latest mobile technologies and trends. This year’s M360 APAC Seoul will be held under the theme of ‘Digital Nation Development through AI ‘.
Leaders of major domestic and foreign ICT companies, the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Korea Telecommunications Operators Association (KTOA), and key figures from academia attended to discuss industry-specific digital transformation (DX), generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), 6th generation mobile communication (6G), and meta.
