Microsoft’s Intraday market cap exceeds $3 trillion for the first time… Second, after Apple. This is the first time that Microsoft has MS surpassed 3 trillion in market capitalization. As a company as a whole, it is second only to Apple. This record comes two weeks after Microsoft surpassed Apple to become the number one market cap in the world. Afterward, Apple regained the top spot in the world by market cap. Apple’s market capitalisation was around $3.03 trillion during trading today.
The rally in technology stocks and investment in OpenAI, the developer of generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot ChatGPT, led to Microsoft’s dramatic rise. Since the launch of ChatGPT in November 2022, Microsoft’s stock price has risen more than 60%. During this period, the Standard & Poor’s (S&P) 500 index rose about 20%, the NASDAQ index centered on technology stocks rose about 40%, and Apple’s stock price rose about 30%.
Microsoft achieved record profits for two consecutive quarters thanks to 20% year-on-year growth in its AI-centric intelligent cloud business. Microsoft plans to announce its fiscal second quarter (October to December of last year) results on the 30th of this month.
