Apple’s mixed reality (MR) headset ‘Vision Pro’ has been released. The price is $3,500 (4.6 Million Won). It is at least twice the size of a typical premium smartphone. What happens if you accidentally drop such expensive electronic equipment on the floor? ‘Appletrack’, an overseas YouTuber specializing in IT, began testing the durability of the Vision Pro.

AppleTrack revealed the results of the Vision Pro durability test in a YouTube video posted on the 3rd (local time). The test replicated all situations that could be encountered while wearing the Vision Pro at home. For example, dropping the Vision Pro from head height or colliding with a wall or corner of a house.

In the corner crash test, the Vision Pro’s windshield was slightly scratched, but did not cause any serious damage. AppleTrack commented that the windshield was more durable than expected.

We also tested the case of hitting the Vision Pro directly against a wall. Vision Pro is equipped with a so-called ‘pass-through’ function that allows you to see the outside from inside the house, and this is a test that assumes the possibility of colliding with a wall while walking around the room with pass-through turned on. The tester said that a moderate impact did not cause any damage to the Vision Pro, and that “there would be a higher possibility that the user would be injured or suffer a concussion before the glass broke.”

Even in a test where the Vision Pro was dropped from head height, it withstood the impact relatively well. However, when it was dropped repeatedly, problems began to occur in the speaker and power supply. After eight drops, the Vision Pro’s windshield eventually cracked. However, the Vision Pro itself still worked.

After completing the test, Appletrack said of the Vision Pro, “It is a very well-manufactured product (in terms of durability). In particular, the front glass of the headset, which was expected to be the most vulnerable, was stronger than expected. (The Vision Pro) is very fragile. “It looks like a device, but in reality, it is not,” he said.
