The response from foreign media outlets was also overwhelmingly positive. The U.S. Wall Street Journal (WSJ) commented, “(Samsung’s) AI smartphone that will implement more functions than Apple has finally appeared,” and added, “For the first time in a very long time, Samsung has presented software rather than hardware specs.” At the meeting that day, President Roh said,“ With the addition of AI functions, we expect sales of the S24 to grow by double digits compared to its predecessor,” adding, “We will be able to restore growth momentum (in the smartphone industry, which has shrunk after the coronavirus), focusing on premium phones.” He said.
At the same time, President Roh said, “We will contribute to the global spread of mobile AI by installing ‘Galaxy AI’ on 100 million mobile devices this year.” The plan is to add some AI features not only to the Galaxy S24 but also to its predecessors, the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Flip 5, and Galaxy Fold 5, through software updates in the first half of this year. He explained, “Due to differences in hardware such as semiconductors, we will not apply 100% of the AI technology applied to the Galaxy S24, but will spread 80-90% of it to previous products.
