Microsoft Has Surpassed Apple to Become Number 1 in Global Market Capitalization
Microsoft has surpassed Apple to become the world’s largest company by market capitalization thanks to its focus on generative artificial intelligence (AI), a field that is increasingly popular with investors.
Citing LSEG data, Reuters announced on the 15th (local time) that Microsoft’s market capitalization reached an all-time high of $2.887 trillion. Microsoft’s market value increased by more than $1 trillion last year.
Microsoft integrated Open AI’s technology across its productivity software suite, sparking a rebound in its cloud computing business in the July-September quarter.
Other AI-focused technology companies such as NVIDIA, Meta platform, and Alphabet also saw their market capitalization increase significantly last year.
Apple’s market capitalization peaked at $3.81 trillion on December 14 and recorded $2.875 trillion as of the closing price on the 12th (local time). Apple is suffering from a decline in demand for its flagship product, the iPhone.
