It has been reported that the United States recently used a ninja missiles (pictured)’ to assassinate a prominent figure in the process of eliminating the leader of a pro-Iranian militant group in Iraq. Kataib Hezbollah is a member of the Islamic Resistance Group of Iraq, an allied group that recently attacked a U.S. military base in Jordan with a drone, killing three U.S. soldiers. Kataib Hezbollah commander, who died in the U.S. military attack, is known to have personally planned and participated in the attack on the U.S. military base.
The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing a U.S. Department of Defense official, reported on the 14th (local time) that the U.S. military used the ‘Hellfire missile R9X’ when conducting an airstrike on the commander of Kataib Hezbollah, a pro-Iranian militant group in Iraq, on the 7th.
The Hellfire missile R9X is characterized by not having an explosive warhead and being equipped with six blades that unfold just before impacting the target. When it hits the target, it shatters the target with 6 blades. The Hellfire missile, which was made as an anti-tank weapon, was improved for assassination purposes and is called a ninja missiles or ninja bomb. It is known that the use of this missile has recently increased due to its advantage in minimizing civilian casualties due to explosions. The U.S. military also used this missile to eliminate Abu al-Khair al-Masri, the son-in-law of Osama bin Laden, in 2017.
