SpaceX Successfully Launches Odysseus Falcon 9

This article by Musk was written after SpaceX Successfully Launches Odysseus Falcon 9 from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

Elon Musk posted on social media platform Another account shared a post that restated his past statement, “My mission is to make humanity a multi-planet civilization.” He added to this post, “But for that to become a reality, human civilization must last that long.”

Odysseus is a lunar lander developed by Intuitive Machines, an American private space company. For the first time in history, the private sector is planning to land on the lunar surface on the 22nd. If the landing is successful, it will be the first American spacecraft to reach the moon in 51 years since Apollo 17 in December 1972.

Odysseus will carry out the moon landing mission ‘IM-1’. ‘IM-1’ is the second project to be carried out as a Civil Payload Transport Service (CLPS) between the Earth and the Moon in connection with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s lunar exploration program ‘Artemis’.

There are four companies that have signed CLPS contracts with NASA, and among them, Intuitive Machines has won the largest number of orders. It is scheduled to carry out three missions. Ultimately, it was Musk’s Falcon 9 that carried Odysseus into space. In addition to SpaceX, Musk also runs the American electric vehicle company Tesla and social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Musk is calculated to have assets of $205 billion in the US economic magazine Bloomberg’s ‘Billionaire Index’. Musk is the only conglomerate in this index with assets exceeding $200 billion.
