Tesla Recalls 2 million Vehicles Including Model Y, S, & X

Tesla recalls 2 million vehicles, including Model Y, in the U.S. due to rear camera malfunction. American electric car company Tesla is recalling some Model Y, S, and X vehicles. According to a document released by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on its website on the 26th (local time), a problem was identified in Tesla’s 2023 Model Y, S, and X vehicles in which rear camera images were not displayed properly due to software instability.

NHTSA pointed out that the problem of the rear image not appearing when reversing can narrow the driver’s field of vision and increase the risk of a collision accident. A total of 199,575 vehicles are subject to this recall. As of the 21st, Tesla had confirmed 81 defect repair requests related to this rear camera. Tesla provides a free software update to resolve this issue.

The U.S. media pointed out that Tesla Recalls 2 million Vehicles due to a defect in the driving assistance function ‘Autopilot’ in mid-December last year and is recalling them again about a month later. NBC News reported that Tesla has recalled 15 times over the past year, including this recall.

Earlier this month, Tesla recalled about 1.62 million vehicles sold in China between 2014 and 2023 due to safety issues such as driving assistance functions. Tesla’s stock price plunged 12% the next day due to the announcement of poor quarterly performance and forecast of a slowdown in growth this year on the 24th. As of 12:20 PM (Eastern Time) on the 26th on the New York Stock Exchange, Tesla stock is trading at $184.30, up 0.91% from the previous day.
