On the European stock market on this day, ASML’s stock price rose 3% from the previous trading day’s closing price, reaching its highest level in two years, surpassing food company Nestlé in market capitalization. ASML’s market cap was estimated at $306 billion (KRW 409 trillion), and Nestle’s market cap was estimated at $301 billion (KRW 402 trillion).
As a result, ASML rose to third place in European stock market capitalization, following Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk and Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVHM). Bloomberg analyzed that the rise in ASML’s stock price came as the company forecast “significant growth” next year as spending on advanced equipment among semiconductor manufacturers recovers.
Previously, Taiwan’s TSMC, ASML’s customer and the world’s largest foundry (consignment production) semiconductor manufacturer, announced its forecast that this year’s sales would increase by more than 20% compared to last year. Bernstein’s analysts Sarah Russo and Chris Elias said they upgraded ASML’s stock price to an investment rating, calling it “more attractive” than its peers.
Investment bank Morgan Stanley also selected ASML stock as the most recommended stock among European semiconductor companies, and the optimistic outlook for ASML continues on Wall Street in the United States. ASML is a company that dominates the global exposure equipment market. Exposure equipment is used to engrave fine circuits by shining light such as extreme ultraviolet rays (EUV) onto wafers, a raw material for semiconductors.
