Huawei is Developing A Vision Headset “Half The Price Of Apple”

China’s Huawei is expected to release a Vision headset to compete with Apple’s Vision Pro. On the 7th (local time), CEO Li Nan Angrimiao announced on Weibo that Huawei is developing a vision headset targeting the end of this year. The price is 15,000 yuan (about 2.76 million won), which is half the price of Apple Vision Pro.

He said that Huawei uses its own chips in this headset, and there is almost no delay in the headset’s spatial control. The headset will be equipped with Sony’s 4K micro OLED. This display is scheduled to ship within 6 months.

Compared to Apple’s Vision Pro, Huawei’s headset reportedly does not have the EyeSight feature (which allows the eyes of the user wearing the Vision Pro to be viewed from the outside). It weighs 350g, making it lighter than the Vision Pro.

Previously, Huawei registered the Vision Pro trademark in China in May 2019. As of December last year, many products, including TVs, are being sold under the product name ‘Vision’, including vision glasses. Accordingly, it appears that Apple will not be able to use the headset name Vision Pro in China. It is reported that Apple will release Vision Pro under a different name in China in April or May.

Meanwhile, Vision Pro, which was released in the United States on the 2nd, sold more than 200,000 units in pre-orders that lasted for two weeks.
